1.2 Vice President, Finance and Human Resources

Are you a seasoned finance and human resources professional? Do you have experience managing the finances of a 501(c)3 or 501(c)4 organization and want to join a growing organization? Voto Latino (VL) is seeking a Vice President of Finance and Administration to join our leadership team. The VP will be charged with ensuring proper financial tracking and reporting for a non-profit organizations. Candidates should be detail oriented, and enjoy working in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment. The Vice President of Finance and Human Resources will report to the President.

  • Manage all financial operations for a 501(c)3 organization with an affiliated 501(c)4; this includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, year-end closing activities, reconciliation of bank accounts, grant financial and budget management, and reconciliation of credit cards
  • Develop and coordinate operational budgets for the organization and monitor to ensure spending occurred as planned and that variances were anticipated, recognized, and corrected
  • Forecast income and expenditures and prepare organization and donor-specific budgets
  • Work with independent auditors to ensure compliance with IRS standards and best practices
  • Update or establish operational procedures to ensure that proper and accurate accounting records are maintained
  • Coordinate, review, and complete state registration documentation
  • Review terms and conditions of grant award letters and contracts to ensure accurate and on-time financial reporting
  • Oversee HR tasks including new hires, terminations, benefits, and payroll
  • Manage the recruitment process, including developing job descriptions, posting positions, completing interviews and conducting reference checks, for positions at all levels of the organization
  • Review and negotiate terms of insurance programs (if necessary), including liability, workers’ compensation and health
  • Develop and implement a full onboarding process for all new staff
  • Oversee annual performance review process and prepare report for Managing Director/CEO on overall performance
  • Manage the Voto Latino office; conduct lease negotiations, manage building maintenance needs, order supplies, manage technology inventory and needs, and assign seating locations
  • Manage the Voto Latino staff interns, including recruitment, job placement, and evaluations as needed
  • Write and manage all Voto Latino contracts, ensuring compliance and on-time payments
  • Liaise with the Board of Directors, including scheduling and planning logistics for board meetings, drafting meeting minutes, tracking amendments to bylaws and project manage the board meeting materials development process
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • 4-year college degree
  • 8+ years experience in finance and human resources related activities
  • Experience with managing and tracking financial activities at a 501(c)3 and/or 501(c)4 organization
  • Demonstrated leader with excellent management skills
  • Experience meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work individually and in a team environment
  • Be a strong self-starter who is highly organized
  • Creative problem solver
  • Consistent record of juggling multiple tasks
  • Demonstrated commitment to and awareness of Latino civil rights and/or issues of social justice
