Voto Latino Calls For Unity After Congressional Baseball Practice Shooting in Virginia
WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 14, 2017 – Jessica Reeves, Chief Operating Officer of Voto Latino, the leading civic media organization empowering American Latino millennials, released a statement regarding today’s gunman attack during a Congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia.
“We are extremely disturbed and sadden by today’s dreadful events. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the victims, especially House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and Congressional staffer Zack Barth, who are reported to be in critical condition. Voto Latino, along with many politicians and organizations, call for unity. We may disagree ideologically but we must stand together against senseless acts of violence. We also applaud the bravery displayed by Capitol Police and the quick action taken by first responders, which helped save many lives.”
