Voto Latino reacts to SCOTUS Muslim Ban Decision

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Voto Latino President and CEO María Teresa Kumar issued the following in response to the United States Supreme Court decision upholding Donald Trump’s Muslim Ban:

“With today’s 5-4 decision, the United States Supreme Court sided with the president’s xenophobic agenda. From day one, Donald Trump has informed the American public of his disdain for Muslims and admitted his travel ban was never over security concerns but based on this discrimination. We’re disappointed and concerned with the Supreme Court’s decision, and agree with Justice Sonia Sotomayor that this will deny “countless individuals the fundamental religious liberty.” Now is not the time for America to turn its back on those facing political and religious persecution from these very countries, but we must always lead and extend our generosity to those that seek it.”
