Voto Latino has been at the forefront of advocacy efforts for humane immigration reform and against racist policies pushed by the Trump administration.
Most recently, Voto Latino has been an advocate for long-term solutions for undocumented immigrants, such as the Dream and Promise Act, which provides a path to citizenship and passed in the House in 2019.
And in light of the Trump administration’s attempt to rescind DACA in 2017, Voto Latino offers support for DACA recipients and help with filing fees at DACA@VotoLatino.org.
As Voto Latino advocates for solutions, however, we remain committed to combating racist immigration policies.
In 2018, Voto Latino joined 39 other organizations in penning a letter to Kirstjen M. Nielsen, then-Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, denouncing the harmful immigration policies in place under her leadership. In 2019, Voto Latino continues the fight by spearheading a campaign to fire Stephen Miller, the senior policy adviser who created and advocated for some of the administration’s cruelest policies.
Miller has advocated for the Muslim Ban, family separation at the border, rescinding DACA protections, and the border wall. He’s also pushed for the lowest cap on refugees in history, reforming the immigration system to prioritize wealthy, white immigrants, and restricting green card and citizenship applications for legal immigrants whose families used public services like Obamacare.
