Voto Latino’s Statement on the Tragic Shooting of Minnesota Lawmakers

Washington, D.C. — Voto Latino strongly and unequivocally condemns the tragic act of political violence targeting Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman and State Senator John Hoffman. We are devastated by the news and offer our deepest condolences to their families, loved ones, and their communities.

This attack is a stark reminder of the dangerous consequences that can arise from escalating political rhetoric. When discourse turns hateful, it not only divides us but can also incite real-world violence. This moment calls for both reflection and action. We must collectively reject extremism, hold accountable those who fuel division, and recommit to resolving our differences through peaceful engagement.

We urge all leaders across the political spectrum to speak out forcefully against political violence. Now more than ever, it is critical to safeguard the integrity of our democracy and protect those who serve it.

Voto Latino stands in solidarity with the families and communities affected by this tragedy. We remain steadfast in our commitment to fostering a political climate rooted in respect, safety, and inclusivity for all.
