Voto Latino celebrates Immigrant Heritage Month
Voto Latino President and CEO María Teresa Kumar issued the following statement:
“Today, on this national day of action in protest of the un-American family separation policy this administration is cruelly enforcing, Voto Latino is proud to celebrate Immigrant Heritage Month and the contributions immigrants have had on our country. We honor our immigrant ancestors who paved the way for countless generations and are appreciative of their sacrifices, unwavering work ethic, and dedication for the betterment of all of our families.
“We are and forever will be a nation of immigrants. Whether we are the first or the fifth generation- our commonality is a strong belief in America. Our immigrant ancestors arrived with a strong belief that only in America – we could define ourselves. As we join in this month-long celebration, let’s reflect upon the legacies past immigrants left us and work to improve the experiences for a whole new wave of immigrants with love, compassion and respect. #FamiliesBelongTogether”
