Washington, DC (hybrid role, candidate should be based in DC)

Summary:

The Chief Development Officer is a key position within Voto Latino’s leadership that oversees, manages, and seeks to expand fundraising streams while building  fundraising strategies and systems for Voto Latino Foundation, a non-profit, non-partisan 501(c)(3) organization, and its sister 501(c)(4) advocacy organization, Voto Latino. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience building a robust and comprehensive development approach, creating and cultivating relationships with key partners, donors, and stakeholders – as part of a dynamic and highly collaborative and innovative organization. The candidate will be instrumental in building a permanent ongoing fundraising structure and team. This is an executive team position and reports to the President. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead organization’s fundraising strategies and fundraising operations aligned with its mission and goals
  • Work with executive team to create short-term and long-term fundraising strategies, goals, and objectives to meet the organization’s targets and programmatic objectives
  • Identify new funding opportunities and test innovative approaches to diversify revenue streams 
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective major donors, community partners, foundations, corporations, and institutions 
  • Research and identify grant opportunities that align with the organization’s goals and objectives
  • Plan fundraising events in collaboration with the events and program teams including small gatherings and marquee events
  • Track metrics and data reporting
  • Collaborate with the communications and digital teams to development fundraising campaigns and relevant materials 
  • Collaborate with the events and 
  • Manage and maintain organization’s donor database  
  • Travel when required to attend fundraising events, convenings, and conferences 
  • Manage development consultants to meet organization goals and objectives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related capacity
  • 10+ years of experience in fundraising including major gifts, institutional giving programs, corporate fundraising, and direct response fundraising
  • Experience managing staff and staff managers, to include guidance on goal-setting and task management
  • Experience mentoring and or coaching staff towards professional growth
  • Experience working within nonprofit, civic, voting rights organizations, and prior experience working with members of Congress is preferred
  • Familiarity with philanthropic trends and fundraising best practices
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace and Salesforce
  • Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills 
  • Possess a highly collaborative and ‘hands on’ style; extensive experience working in fast paced environments with multiple projects and deadlines
  • A track record of building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders 
  • Experience working with high levels of discretion and handling confidential or sensitive information
  • Demonstrated commitment to, and awareness of Latino civil rights and/or issues of social justice 
  • Experience with fundraising for a (c)(4) organization preferred
  • Experience in fundraising within the Latino community is beneficial, but not required

Salary & Benefits 

Between $160,000 and $180,000 annual salary. Voto Latino offers competitive benefits, including health insurance, and paid vacation leave. This is a full-time employment position.
