Kristi Noem Must be Impeached and Removed from Office as Dangerous ICE Enforcement Climbs to 261 DACA Recipients Behind Bars

Washington, D.C. — The Trump administration has been actively deporting DACA recipients, with recent reports stating that ICE has arrested 261 individuals covered by DACA. Voto Latino issued the following statement in response:

“The arrest of DACA recipients represents a profound betrayal of trust and a dangerous escalation in immigration enforcement. For over a decade, Dreamers who have benefited from DACA have complied with the law and are only approved after going through numerous steps—registering with the federal government, submitting fingerprints, undergoing rigorous background checks, paying significant fees, and contributing openly to the country they call home. For the very department that approved these individuals’ DACA protections to now subject them to arrest and detention is both unjust and destabilizing.

There are more than 500,000 youth, adults, mothers, and fathers who receive temporary protection under DACA in the United States. They are teachers educating our children, nurses caring for our families, entrepreneurs creating jobs, students pursuing higher education, and parents raising U.S. citizen children. They are woven into the fabric of our communities and our economy. Targeting them does not make this nation safer or stronger—it tears families apart and spreads fear across entire communities.

Expanded immigration enforcement that targets young people who relied on federal assurances undermines institutional integrity and erodes public trust. Under Secretary Kristi Noem, ICE and CBP continue their legacy of lawlessness and chaos, tearing apart entire families, neighborhoods, and communities regardless of people’s immigration status. Policies whose sole purpose is to terrorize and disrupt daily life for people who have built their lives here are reckless and damaging.

Congress must act now without delay. DACA recipients and Dreamers deserve permanent, bipartisan protections that provide certainty, dignity, and a pathway towards citizenship. Anything less leaves millions of families in limbo.

Voto Latino will continue to hold this administration accountable and to fight for policies that uphold due process, protect families, and recognize the indispensable contributions of immigrant communities nationwide. Dreamers deserve security—not fear. They deserve permanence—not political gamesmanship.”
