New Jobs Report Shows Latino Workers Facing the Sharpest Economic Decline Under Trump
Washington, D.C. — Today’s long-delayed November 2025 jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed troubling signs for the U.S. economy, with Latino workers experiencing disproportionate harm. The Latino unemployment rate has climbed to 5.0%, outpacing the national unemployment rate of 4.6%—the highest overall rate since September 2021, when the nation was emerging from the COVID-19 downturn. Job growth also slowed significantly, with the economy adding only 64,000 jobs, far fewer than previously estimated.
Sounding the alarm on the most recent jobs report, Voto Latino issued the following statement:
“President Trump promised economic relief, but every report this year shows his administration is dangerously disconnected from the realities families face. While the White House continues misleading the public on the economy, the numbers tell a different story: wages are not keeping pace with rising costs, and millions of families are falling further behind.
Latino workers are being hit especially hard. Although Latinos make up nearly one-fifth of the U.S. workforce, their unemployment rate now exceeds that of the nation overall. Behind these statistics are families facing impossible daily choices—whether to skip meals, cut back on groceries, or take on multiple jobs simply to cover basic expenses. For Latino communities, affordability is not a talking point; it is a growing crisis that demands urgent action.
Rising unemployment, slowing job growth, and the administration’s failure to meaningfully address the affordability crisis are deepening hardship across the country. Working families deserve leadership that acknowledges these challenges—not leaders who minimize them or obscure the truth.”
Voto Latino remains committed to empowering Latino voters with accurate information and mobilizing communities nationwide. As the 2026 elections approach, Latino voters will be looking for leaders who are ready to confront this economic reality and fight for policies that expand opportunity and stability for all.
