Washington, DC – Voto Latino is proud to announce new National Board Chair, Brandon Hernandez. Brandon previously served as co-Chair. The Board convened at Voto Latino’s annual Power Summit in Austin, Texas.

“I’ve proudly served on the board of Voto Latino nearly since the founding of the organization. I’ve seen it grow and have great impact on our community. As National Board Chair, I’ll endeavor to lead the organization into its next chapter and give voice to the Latinx community in what will be our nation’s most consequential elections,” said Hernandez.

Voto Latino also added Board Members Ingrid Duran, CEO & Founder of D&P Creative Strategies, and Eve Maldonado O’Toole, Senior Policy Advisor at Holland & Knight.

“Throughout my career, I have worked hard to uplift the Latinx community. I am thrilled to join the board of Voto Latino at this important time as we enter 2020. Voter engagement is critical. I look forward to working alongside the board, María Teresa and the VL team to ensure our community’s voice is not silenced,” said Duran.

Duran will chair Voto Latino’s Los Quince Years of Service to take place in late March. Duran, a former Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, previously served as President and CEO of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) and led the Washington, DC office of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO). She is the CEO & Founder of D&P Creative Strategies, a government relations and public affairs firm.

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to join Voto Latino. Our goal of registering one million Latinx voters by 2020 is crucial and the chance to play a part in that work is truly personal for me,” said O’Toole.

O’Toole leads Holland & Knight’s Local Government Group and Principal of Evolve Strategies LLC. She brings more than 20 years of federal lobbying experience, with substantial background in state and local government/public sector advocacy, regulatory, appropriations and policy development, and in establishing and executing local public-private partnerships, successful grassroots campaigns and coalitions, and positioning state and local officials and municipalities nationally.

“With a more robust and dedicated board, Voto Latino is preparing to meet the moment. Heading into 2020, this added leadership better positions Voto Latino to maximize its programs to enfranchise new American voters. I feel so privileged to work with my board,” said María Teresa Kumar, President & CEO of Voto Latino.
