Voto Latino Applauds Oversight Committee Democrats’ Efforts to Strengthen Congressional Oversight
Washington, D.C. — Today, Ranking Member Garcia alongside Oversight Committee Democrats, launched the Oversight Immigration Enforcement Dashboard. This tool is part of the Oversight Democrats’ ongoing effort to hold the federal government accountable, as well as to publicly monitor patterns of misconduct.
In response to the launch of the Oversight Immigration Enforcement Dashboard, Voto Latino issued the following statement:
“Under the Trump administration, our communities have faced unprecedented terror as a result of their mass deportation agenda. Since returning to office, this administration has emboldened the use of excessive force by federal agents to sow fear in vulnerable communities across the country rather than focusing on public safety.
In recent months, there have been numerous incidents of misconduct affecting Latinos across the country—regardless of status. American citizens, long-time residents, and law-abiding individuals have been swept up in the administration’s chaos, with little transparency and almost no accountability.
The public deserves to know the truth. That’s why the launch of the Oversight Immigration Enforcement Dashboard is so important. We applaud Ranking Member Garcia and the Oversight Committee Democrats for their leadership in ensuring that the patterns of harm carried out under the Trump administration can no longer be ignored. This is what accountability looks like.”
Voto Latino remains steadfast in demanding accountability from the federal government for fostering fear in our communities and eroding due process protections. We will continue to press Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to rein in federal agencies operating without restraint. Through our website, we are urging the public to contact their members of Congress and demand congressional oversight. Our communities deserve dignity, transparency, and the full protection of their rights.
