Voto Latino Applauds President Biden’s Plan to Expand Health Coverage to DACA Recipients

In response to today’s announcement from President Biden to provide Dreamers with more access to health coverage, Voto Latino issued the following statement:

“President Biden’s plan to expand health coverage to Dreamers is a significant step in the right direction towards offering DACA recipients the same access to health care as their friends and neighbors. Thousands of DACA recipients work in the health care system, yet they’ve never had access to affordable coverage. It’s long past time to fix that injustice. Actions such as these are what Latino voters called for when they overwhelmingly voted for Biden in 2020.

“While we applaud this step, we can’t lose sight of the fact that we still need to address the urgent need for comprehensive immigration reform. Dreamers are our friends, neighbors, coworkers, and family members. They’ve transitioned from childhood to adulthood, started families, became working members of society, and continue to provide endlessly to the U.S. – it’s time they receive the protections they deserve.”
