Washington, DC – Today, the United States Senate confirmed President Biden’s Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve as a Supreme Court Justice. Maria Teresa Kumar, President and CEO of Voto Latino, praised her performance in confirmation hearings and released the following statement after the vote:

“The Senate’s well-deserved confirmation of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson today marks a proud day for our country. Despite Republicans’ despicable efforts to smear her character and distort her record, Justice Jackson proved during the confirmation hearings that she has the intellect, experience, and judgment to serve honorably in our nation’s highest court.

“Few institutions are as consequential as the U.S. Supreme Court. Its rulings have a profound impact on the lives of all Americans, and its justices serve for life. Justice Jackson made clear during her confirmation hearings that she’s ready to serve as a champion for the principles of justice and equality laid out in our Constitution. President Biden made a fine choice in selecting her and I look forward to seeing her serve in the years and decades to come.”
