Voto Latino Celebrates Infrastructure Bill’s Passage
WASHINGTON – Following the House passage of the $1 trillion infrastructure bill, Voto Latino President and CEO Maria Teresa Kumar, issued the following statement:
“The $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill is a massive achievement of a long overdue investment in America’s aging roads and bridges, cleaner water systems, expanded broadband access, green energy solutions, and so much more. It’s a sign the Democratic-controlled Congress can deliver for working families, combat climate change, create millions of good-paying jobs, and rebuild our communities for the benefit of future generations.
“We applaud this monumental legislation, but the work isn’t done, yet. The investment in our physical infrastructure must now be followed with an even greater investment in our human infrastructure by passing the Build Back Better bill. We are glad written agreements were obtained to assure that investments in child care, expanded health care, universal pre-k, and immigration are not left behind, and a vote to pass will follow soon. We will make certain our elected leaders are held accountable to this promise. Together, these two bills can create transformative change, and Latinx voters will be counting on Congress and President Biden to deliver.”
