WASHINGTON, D.C. — Voto Latino, the national organization dedicated to empowering Latino communities through civic engagement, strongly condemns the White House’s Valentine’s Day social media post stating, “Roses are red, violets are blue, come here illegally and we’ll deport you.”

“This post was deliberately crafted to provoke and sow division, but the struggles of immigrant families are not a joke. Using a lighthearted holiday to demean and target communities is not only irresponsible—it is beneath the dignity of the presidency. The role of the White House is to lead with integrity and bring people together, not to mock and vilify those who contribute to the fabric of this nation.

At a time when millions of hardworking immigrants are seeking safety, opportunity, and a better future, rhetoric like this only fuels hostility and fear. Instead of stoking division, we urge our leaders to focus on real solutions—creating a better immigration system that upholds our values as a nation of immigrants. 

Voto Latino stands in firm opposition to rhetoric that dehumanizes immigrant communities. We call on the administration to act with the respect and compassion that all people deserve, rather than resorting to harmful, divisive messaging. Our country is stronger when we choose unity over cruelty.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Voto Latino, la organización nacional dedicada a empoderar a las comunidades latinas, condena la publicación en las redes sociales de la Casa Blanca con motivo del Día de San Valentín. 

“Esta publicación fue creada deliberadamente para provocar y sembrar división, pero la lucha y el sacrificio de las familias inmigrantes no son una broma. Usar una festividad alegre para degradar y atacar a las comunidades no solo es irresponsable, sino que está por debajo de la dignidad de la presidencia. El papel de la Casa Blanca es liderar con integridad y unir a las personas, no burlarse y denigrar a quienes contribuyen a la estructura de esta nación.

En un momento en que millones de inmigrantes trabajadores buscan seguridad, oportunidades y un futuro mejor, una retórica como ésta sólo alimenta la hostilidad y el miedo. En lugar de alimentar la división, instamos a nuestros líderes a enfocarse en soluciones reales: crear un mejor sistema de inmigración que defienda nuestros valores como nación de inmigrantes.

Voto Latino se opone firmemente a la retórica que deshumaniza a las comunidades inmigrantes. Hacemos un llamado a la administración para que actúe con el respeto y la compasión que todas las personas merecen, en lugar de recurrir a mensajes dañinos y divisivos.
