Voto Latino Mourns Victims of Mass Shooting at Nashville, Tennessee’s Covenant School
In response to the news of Monday’s mass shooting at a private Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee, Voto Latino issued the following statement:
“We are devastated by the tragic shooting that took the lives of innocent children at The Covenant School, and our hearts go out to all of the families impacted by this tragedy. Unfortunately, these attacks have grown more common in this country as gun violence is the leading cause of death for American children.
“As we approach the anniversary of the Uvalde shooting at Robb Elementary, this should send a blaring reminder to Congress that we need more action to keep our children safe in their classrooms and their communities. President Biden signed into law the first major federal gun safety legislation passed in decades, but there’s clearly more that needs to be done, and that requires Congress. There have already been more than 100 mass shootings this year, yet lawmakers continue to put the agenda of the NRA above the lives of their constituents. It’s long past time to end this epidemic of violence. We need Congress to pass legislative gun reform, and we need it now.”
