Voto Latino Recognizes President Biden’s Legacy of Service and Contributions to Latinos

WASHINGTON, D.C. —  Voto Latino, the national organization dedicated to empowering Latino communities through civic engagement, extends its heartfelt gratitude for President Joe Biden’s steadfast leadership and unwavering commitment to advancing policies that have significantly improved the lives of Latino families across the United States.

“President Biden’s tenure has been defined by compassion, determination, and a commitment to equity. His administration has delivered tangible progress for Latino families, from lifting children out of poverty to ensuring greater access to healthcare and education. As we reflect on his farewell speech, we honor his legacy and remain inspired by his vision for a more inclusive and just America,” said María Teresa Kumar, President and CEO of Voto Latino.

“History will reflect that his four-year tenure left an indelible mark, with transformative policies that propelled our nation’s infrastructure, technological advancements, climate initiatives, student loan forgiveness, and labor-focused priorities into the 21st century. While we regret not having another four years to fully realize his vision, his agenda laid the groundwork for true immigration modernization and safeguarding the loved ones of millions of Americans.

Under President Biden’s leadership, the administration has delivered on key priorities that directly impact Latinos, including:

  • Economic Opportunity: The passage of the American Rescue Plan and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has created millions of jobs, many of which benefit Latino workers who play a vital role in industries like construction, transportation, and healthcare. His administration’s expansion of the Child Tax Credit lifted millions of Latino children out of poverty, offering families much-needed relief.
  • Healthcare Access: President Biden worked tirelessly to expand access to affordable healthcare by strengthening the Affordable Care Act and reducing premiums. This has allowed millions of Latino families to access critical healthcare services and resources.
  • Education and Student Debt Relief: The Biden administration prioritized investments in public education, early childhood programs, and funding for minority-serving institutions like Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). Additionally, his bold actions on student debt relief have given many Latinos the chance to pursue higher education and economic mobility.
  • Immigration Relief: While significant challenges remain, President Biden’s administration has taken steps to protect Dreamers, preserve DACA, and create pathways for citizenship for spouses of American citizens, expanding TPS to millions, stopping interior ICE sweeps and holding ICE accountable. His efforts reflect a deep understanding of the contributions of immigrant communities to our nation’s success.
  • COVID-19 Response: The equitable distribution of vaccines and targeted outreach efforts ensured that Latino communities received life-saving resources during the pandemic.
  • Small Business Support: Programs like the expansion of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and the American Rescue Plan provided vital funding to keep businesses afloat during challenging times. These efforts underscore the administration’s commitment to fostering an inclusive economy where Latino-owned businesses can continue to create jobs and drive innovation nationwide.

“We thank President Biden for his years of public service and his dedication to uplifting the voices and needs of the Latino community. As we look to the future, Voto Latino urges all communities to stay engaged in the democratic process, honoring the progress made and carrying forward the work still to be done.

Voto Latino remains committed to continuing the work of building a brighter future for all.”
