Voto Latino Responds to the Recent Mass Shootings in California

Voto Latino released the following statement as a response to the tragic shootings that took place in Oakland, Monterey Park, and Half Moon Bay within a matter of days:

“Firstly, we are keeping all the victims and their families from the California tragedies in mind. During a time where many Asian families were starting to celebrate the Lunar New Year, hopeful excitement turned into heavy despair. It’s painful and exhausting to see mass shootings become so ingrained in American culture. It’s all the more infuriating that Congress has the power to dramatically reduce or eliminate this barrage of violence, but chooses not to.

“The inaction of our politicians enables catastrophes like these to continue. Americans overwhelmingly see gun violence as a problem, but Republican leaders on the Hill do not. Voto Latino will continue putting pressure on elected officials to take action – none of us can afford to remain silent on this issue.”
