Voto Latino Calls on Senate Dems to Disregard Parliamentarian Decision on Immigration in Build Back Better
Pushes Path to Citizenship, Calls on Democrats to Deliver on Campaign Promises
WASHINGTON – Following the Senate Parliamentarian’s ruling on the immigrations measures included in the Build Back Better Act, Voto Latino President and CEO Maria Teresa Kumar, issued the following statement:
“Latinos helped deliver the Senate, House, and the White House to Democrats, who made campaign promises to deliver on immigration.
“Democrats need these same voters in 2022. How are we going to get Latino voters out if Democrats do not follow through on their promises?
“Democrats have the power and must do everything they can to deliver on a path to citizenship. In disregarding the parliamentarian, Senate Democrats are following precedent not setting it. That means disregarding the parliamentarian and passing and enacting meaningful legislation that leaves no question that Democrats delivered on their campaign promises.
