Voto Latino Comments on Texas Leaving the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC)

In response to Texas leaving the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC), Founding President and CEO María Teresa Kumar released the following statement:

“Fueled by falsehoods and election-denying conspiracies, Texas leaving ERIC continues a pattern of Republican-led states making our elections less secure. Texas certified free and fair elections in 2020 and 2022. Leaving ERIC allows Texas and other states to further their efforts to disenfranchise voters of color by purging our communities from voter rolls under false pretenses of fraud without oversight. We will continue to resist their continued efforts to weaken our democracy.”
